Study-in-Asia Program

UWA offers you the opportunity to study in Asia for credit to your degree. Asian Studies has programs for language students in China, Indonesia and Japan. In addition, UWA has exchanges with Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong (as well as the United States and Canada) where Asian Studies students may study for credit to their degree.

Studying overseas as part of your degree gives you the opportunity to:

  • raise your language skills dramatically

  • learn about the culture of the country you are studying

  • meet students from a large number of countries

  • broaden your experience and enable you to learn new life skills

  • make contacts for future employment in the country you are studying.

Students studying Chinese, Indonesian or Japanese can apply to do their 3rd-year language courses "in-country". You will spend 1st semester of your 3rd-year studies in China, Indonesia or Japan, gaining full credit (24 points) for the semester.

For students studying Chinese CHIN2215 China Field Study (12 points) is available over the summer break (December - February). Please click here for the detailed information on China Field Study Programme 2209/2010.

  • Students wishing to receive Austudy payments whilst overseas will require a letter from Student Administration. This letter is handed to CentreLink as proof of enrolment in the in-country course.
