Students, after consulting with a course advisor, may substitute EXCH0913 Exchange Special Unit (Foreign language) (24 pts) or CHIN2215 China Field Study (12 pts) for language units at any level or for ASIA2211 or ASIA2212 to the value of 24 or 12 points in either stream.

Note: Students who have studied standard modern Chinese Mandarin at primary/secondary school level in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore or Malaysia may enrol in the Chinese for native speakers units CHIN2107, CHIN2108, CHIN2209 and CHIN2210. These units are also open to students who have completed Advanced Chinese at secondary school. It is not currently possible to complete a Chinese major entirely within the native speakers stream without the special permission of the Chair of Asian Studies.
